19% of women and 13% of men said that they or their relatives / friends were harassed / abused in Ukraine

European Research Association – EPA, in cooperation with company  Imdata, conducted its own research on the problem of sexual harassment and violence in Ukraine.

The survey was conducted in June 2018 using online and personal interview methods. More than 3,500 people in Ukraine were interviewed, excluding the Crimea and the uncontrolled territories of Lugansk and Donetsk regions.

What did the survey show?

19% of women and 13% of men said that they or their relatives / friends were harassed / abused.

Among the regions where residents report real experience of violence, Donetsk (37%), Kharkiv (28%), Poltava (20%), Kiev (18%) oblasts are leading. Among the western regions residents of Chernivtsi (17%) and Ivano-Frankivsk regions (15%) reported abour sexual harassment/violence.

We are waiting for comments of experts on the roots of problem are and how to solve it. Let us note that 65% of respondents are sure that there is a problem of sexual harassment and violence both over women and men in Ukraine.
